      Hi Anthony

On this age of car the OBD is usually successful unless the software has been updated recently in which case it won’t work. There is now way of knowing without trying one, to see if it works.

    • Neil Braybrook says:

      Hi Mark

We have recently been informed of a weakness in the software that links Nissan to Mercedes in the X class that Mercedes are pin-pointing on the addition of CarPlay kits. The issue manifests in an incorrect display of vehicle mileage only resolved by replacing the instrument cluster and is NOT covered by warranty.

Because of this we are no longer able to install CarPlay kits into the X class. There will be the same risks with ANY CarPlay kit on this model so we would strongly recommend avoiding this kind of installation all together.

I’m sorry we cannot help on this occasion but please do bear us in mind for any future retrofits that you may be considering

Hello, I have A class 220d motorsport 2016, i have an apple car play usb slot but it never comes up or works. Will this work on my car?
    Thanks

    • Neil Braybrook says:

Your car may be suitable for our device to activate CarPlay (But NOT Android Auto on this age of car)

Warranty is not affected as the device does not remain in the vehicle.

However, it does require a specific level of software in your radio for this to work. Mercedes are now no longer able to offer this level as the newest level actually ‘undoes’ what the OBD adapters change!

Mercedes have blocked access to the menus that tell us what version is running so there is no way to pre-determine the outcome. Sadly the only way to see if this will work is to try it and see! If it does work it is important that Mercedes do NOT update the firmware in the radio as this will remove the settings.

We can offer a refund if this fails but we charge an admin fee of £25. If you are able to call at our workshop we can try this at no cost (by appointment)

Please order on our website HERE.

If this device doesn’t work we have a SmartBox solution that will always allow Wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, details of which can be found HERE.

I hope this helps and look forward to hearing from you soon.

It is most likely that we can activate CarPlay and Android Auto in your car with our diagnostic computers. We would need to see the car at out workshop for around an hour to complete the job. The total cost is £240. Please send your chassis number (or reg no) to info@braybrooks.co.uk to confirm 100%.

I have just procured a 2016 Mercedes SLC 200, I thought it had Apple Car Play but hasn’t. The radio is an Audio 20 which volume is not good either,
    1. Can Apple Car Play be added?
    2. Can an amp be added to improve volume

    • Neil Braybrook says:

      Hi Dave

CarPlay can be added but depending on software levels will depend on how we can do this. Worst case cost is £580, best case is £139.

An amp can be added but I wouldn’t suggest anything too large as the speakers will not cope!

  7. Nigel says:

I am looking to purchase an A180 D Class AMG Line Premium Plus which neither has DAB or Apple Carplay. Can this be upgraded ideally for Apple Carplay or Dab at the least?

    • Neil Braybrook says:

      Hi Nigel

I would suggest adding CarPlay and then using a radio app such as Tune-It or RadioPlayer. This would be cheaper than DAB radio as it works out fitted at £580. DAB is from £720 depending on age of car.

  8. Mark says:

Hi, is it possible that my GLA has Apple Car only and not Android Auto? I thought they would usually come together. If not, can I add Android Auto now?

    • Neil Braybrook says:

Hi Mark. Yes. it’s quite likely! If your car is a 2015 or 2016 model then this is the case and it cannot be changed as the hardware is not Android compatible. If its 2017 onwards then it can be added.

    • Neil Braybrook says:

It may work for CarPlay but NOT Android Auto. It will depend on software levels that are loaded as if it doesn’t have the correct level we can no longer load it. The latest software now blocks OBD activation.

But this will always work – click HERE for details.

On this year of car, the manufacturer of the radio is Melco and they did not have the required hardware to enable CarPlay. Only in late 2017 they changed supplier to Panasonic which has the relevant abilities to activate CarPlay but that too has now been disabled by Mercedes.

There are three types of head unit in the new E class and I’m sorry to say that you have the only one that we hove no solution for fitted to your car. The software is not built-in to the unit so it cannot be activated by OBD or diagnostic computer. We are hoping to have a SmartBox solution available soon but our suppliers are still unable to confirm compatibility with this radio.

We have engineers working constantly on this and are hoping to have a solution in the not too distant future.

In case it is possible could you please link to what I need?
    Thanks in advance 🙂

Our OBD activator should give you Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, if it doesn’t we can do it with our diagnostic computers.

    • Neil Braybrook says:

      Hi Muhammad

If your car already has wired CarPlay then this device will make it wireless. If you don’t have CarPlay we can add this too:

We are now able to activate CarPlay and Android Auto on cars with Comand and later Audio 20. Full details on how this is achieved can be found on our website. Please click here for details.

I can confirm that this will work on your specific car. If you want Wireless CarPlay you will need to purchase activation and adapter (Total cost £389)

I hope this helps and look forward to hearing from you soon.

      • Muhammad says:

        Hi Neil,

Thanks for your message. I would need an activator and wireless adaptor for my E class.
Do I need to bring my car to your shop or we can do it remotely? the problem is that i live in Birmingham.

  17. Jun says:

    Hi there,

Would you please help check if my car is for a retrofit activation for car play? Vin number: WDC0G6EB5HF177879. Thanks!

    • Neil Braybrook says:

      Hi

Cars with Comand are not compatible for our simple OBD CarPlay upgrade. In mid 2018 CarPlay was added as standard on C class with Comand. GLC is just starting to filter through.

We do however have a solution that will give you CarPlay in your car. Click here to view on our website.

I hope this is of interest and look forward to hearing from you soon.

  18. Paul says:

Hello, I’ve got this vin: WDD2050042R359107 I can activate through OBD solution ?

If not what are my alternative solution?

    • Neil Braybrook says:

      Hi Paul

Your car would have been suitable for our device to activate CarPlay but unfortunately Mercedes are now blocking this software from their cars during recent ‘safety recalls’. As such OBD adapters no longer activate CarPlay or Android Auto on any C class or GLC.

We do however have a solution that will give you CarPlay and Android Auto in your car. Click here to view on our website.

I hope this helps and look forward to hearing from you soon.

      • Paul says:

        Thank for the fast reply.
I didn’t receive in the last 2 years any recalls.
I didn’t go any near any dealership.
        I am still affected?

        • Neil Braybrook says:

          Hi Paul

There is a chance this might still work with OBD but these devices lock to the car on first insertion so are non-refundable. The price of these devices is still £249 so the risk, I’m sorry to say, will be yours!

The only way to check if this is going to work is by going to a non-dealer, Merc specialist that can check for updates without actually loading it. If there is one available CarPlay will work. If it’s running up to date software then it won’t work. As soon as it goes to a Mercedes dealer they will automatically load this software even if asked not to!!

    • Neil Braybrook says:

      Hi Collette

This depends on the software that the car is running. If it’s the original software it WON’T work. If it has been updated before November last year it WILL work. If it has been updated recently then again it WON’T work. If we update the software in the car it would automatically run the latest software so it WON’T work. I’m sorry it’s so confusing!

Next problem is there is no way of telling what software you are running without a diagnostic computer. We can offer the sale of a device with a refund if it fails (less £25 admin).

The only certain way of achieving CarPlay is by using a SmartBox solution. Details can be found HERE

    • Neil Braybrook says:

      Hi Lori

According to the online Datacard for this car it already has Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. Is this something that has been added to try and get this working or have you just acquired the car?

        • Neil Braybrook says:

          Hi Lori

First thing to try is a different cable. This system is very “fussy’ about cables and needs to be a very good quality one to transfer data with no loss.

In the ‘Tel’ menu on the carousel, can you see Apple CarPlay and Android Auto when you scroll round?

        • Neil Braybrook says:

          Hi Jon

Your car is suitable for our device to activate CarPlay.

However, before it can be used the car stereo may need to be updated to run the latest firmware (OS) by Mercedes. Our device simply plugs in, transfers its information and is then removed.

Warranty is not affected as the device does not remain in the vehicle. If you want to undo the modification, then re-inserting the device again will turn off CarPlay. Each insertion will toggle between On and Off. The device can be used as many times as you like but is locked specifically to your car upon initial insertion.

We would normally suggest to purchase this device and if it doesn’t work then book the car in to Mercedes. Often the software is updated when other work is carried out so it may already be done. Mercedes have blocked access to the menus that tell us what version is running so there is no way to pre-determine the outcome.

If you wish to purchase, please either call the office or complete an order here on our website and we will send you a Paypal invoice.

          Hi Nat

On this age of car we can certainly activate Apple CarPlay but cannot be confident that can do the same for Android Auto. Our best option is to do this using computer diagnostics and this would keep costs to an absolute minimum in the event of failure but also gives us our greatest likelihood of success. The cost if successful is £180. In the event of failure a minimum charge of £30.

Because this is a US spec vehicle it uses different equipment to European spec vehicles. It is however likely that we can change the settings that can then be activated by your local Mercedes Dealer. The cost from our end is £150 and then you will need to get an on-line diagnostic update carried out for which we can supply very specific instructions.

    • Neil Braybrook says:

      Hi Adrian

Your car is suitable for our device to activate CarPlay.(But not Android Auto on this age of car!)

If you wish to purchase, please either call the office or complete an order on our website and we will send you a Paypal invoice.

Hi, I have an A Class A200 CDi/d, W176 first registered Mar-2015 – will your tool enable me to access Apple Car Play?

    • Neil Braybrook says:

      Hi Barry

2015 is re changeover year for A Class. If you can forward your chassis number (or reg no) I can check which options will suit you car.

    • Neil Braybrook says:

      Hi Steve
On this year of car, the manufacturer of the radio is Melco and they did not have the required hardware to enable CarPlay. Only in late 2017 they changed supplier to Panasonic which has the relevant abilities to activate CarPlay but that too has now been disabled by Mercedes.

      Hi Ravi

On a 2019 car things have changed slightly so I would firstly need to take a look at the spec sheet for the car and then probably hook up to our diagnostics to see if we can activate it. Can you firstly send me your chassis number to info@braybrooks.co.uk for me to check please?

      • Neil Braybrook says:

        Hi

The new screen size of C class is now not compatible with our kits.If you have the bigger 12″ screen then we are currently unable to offer a solution. We are constantly trying to resolve this and hope to have a solution in the not too distant future.

    • Neil Braybrook says:

      Hi Juan

Cars with Comand are not compatible for our simple OBD CarPlay upgrade. In mid 2018 CarPlay was added as standard on C class with Comand. GLC is just starting to filter through.

    • Neil Braybrook says:

      Hi James

If your car has the widescreen Comand system then we can activate CarPlay or Android Auto with our diagnostic computers. If it has the separate screens fro dash & radio then we should have a solution for this in the next 2-3 weeks. This will be a SmartBox solution similar to our C class option that will cost £480 + £100 installation.

We have today received stock of a CarPlay/Android Auto SmartBox solution for Mercedes S class (W222). Module price is £500 and installation will be £150. This will operate in the same way as our current SmartBox solutions which means that navigation commands from Google Maps, Waze etc can only be heard if you are listening to music from your phone (Spotify, iTunes, internet radio etc).
This is our initial stock order which is very limited but there is still available product at the moment. Please let me know ASAP if you are interested.

I have a Mercedes cla 2015 two usb one with phone symbol, sd card slot in dash, but can’t get display on screen, what do I need to activate it

    • Neil Braybrook says:

You will need an OBD device and possibly a software update. If you purchase a device and it doesn’t work we can give instructions to give to your Mercedes Dealer to update the software in your car to then allow activation.

    • Neil Braybrook says:

      Hi Shah.

2015 cars never had the hardware in place for CarPlay. You would need to install a SmartBox to get CarPlay in your car.

    • Neil Braybrook says:

      Hi Elliot.

We currently have no solution for A class 177. We are actively seeking a solution and ae looking for cars to test software settings. If you are are able to come to our workshop (AL6 0LL) we can try these settings and if successful you will get CarPlay for free. There is no risk as we are simply looking to see if the options are within these hidden menus.

  29. John McHale says:

    Hi Neil,
Many thanks for all your useful information. Android Auto worked perfectly on my Mercedes GLC250D (2018 model) from May 2018 until last week when I left it in for the recent official Mercedes recall (passenger seat airbag sensor malfunction). The dealer refuses to fix it. Have you come across this problem – it has happened to one other GLC owner that I know of. Many thanks, John.

    • Neil Braybrook says:

      Hi John

Mercedes have really done the dirty on us! The supposed Airbag recall includes reprogramming the radio which wipes out CarPlay. This is total BS because the Airbag system is protected against all the other aspects of the car but they are telling people that because it is a safety recall that the warranty is invalid if not performed!

We are still looking at ways to get around this but need a donor car to try some new software techniques to fix this. If you are local we are able to attempt this at no cost (and no risk). There is simply a setting we are looking for and it’s either there or it isn’t)

      • Umair says:

You can have my car for the day if you want to test. Im in the same boat. W205 2018 – after recall lost android auto

        • Neil Braybrook says:

Thank you for the offer but we have now tried and failed at this!! SmartBox is now the only option but to offset this we will shortly have a wireless version!

  30. Imran says:

Hi Neil, I have just got model 2019 e class 220 d, 19 plate with audio 20 with wide screen without premium pack and not able to activate android Auto nor car play. Do you have any solution for this?

    Thanks, Imran

    • Neil Braybrook says:

      Hi Imran

I’m 99% that we can now do this. This does however involve connecting our diagnostic computer to your car. The cost is £150 + VAT and takes approx one hour.

    • Neil Braybrook says:

      Hi Kevin

The system in the Aston does use the same equipment and a colleague of mine is in the process of testing at the moment. As soon as I get the results of this test I will let you know.

      • Brian Langley says:

Hi Kevin, Any update on the use in later Aston Martins with Mercedes systems? I have a DB11 and I’m also very interested.

        • Neil Braybrook says:

          Hi Brian

I do know now that our systems will work on Aston Martins as we have supplied another specialist with many kits that have been successfully installed. However from discussions with them it seems to be a very significant task to install. I would be happy to do this for your but would need the car in my workshop for 2 days to be able to do this. The cost would be around £1000 + VAT = £1200

  31. Lloyd Fairhurst says:

    • Neil Braybrook says:

      Hi Lloyd
Cars with Comand are not compatible for our simple OBD CarPlay upgrade. In mid 2018 CarPlay was added as standard on C class with Comand. GLC, X & V are still not compatible to date

  32. Paul says:

Hi, I have a cla shooting brake 2016 plate with what I now believe to be the audio 20 system? I have asked at the dealer for the firmware upgrade but have been told they won’t do it. I have also read that the system needs the USB connection with the mirror or phone symbol by it on the glovebox which mine doesn’t have (I have 2 USB ports numbered 1 and 2) I have the Garmin sat nav sad card. will your device activate my system for CarPlay? Are there any known failures?

    • Neil Braybrook says:

Apple CarPlay / Android Auto is available on your car but may require several processes. If your USB sockets in the Armrest are marked 1 & 2 then we will need to replace this part for one that is Marked with a ‘Telephone’ logo and a ‘USB’ logo. If your car already has this then this section can be skipped.

Your car will require a software update. For this we would require the car in our workshop for this for 2-3 hours. Once this is done we will run the activation coding which will then give you CarPlay and Android Auto

The total cost for this process is £400 (if you have the correct USB’s the cost is £300)

I hope this is of interest and look forward to hearing from you soon.

    • Neil Braybrook says:

      Hi Tony

On the new E class it doesn’t come as standard but we are unable to offer a solution on those cars at the moment. We are desperately seeking a solution but as of yet we have not found one – sorry!

    • Neil Braybrook says:

      Hi Shah
A class before 15 reg is compatible with our SmartBox solution. Depending on the radio fitted it might also need some programming. Click here for details

We have no solution currently for new E class. We are desperately seeking a remedy and can let you know if we find something but as of yet we have nothing – sorry!

      • Paul M says:

Hi,  have you got a solution for the e class coupe 2015 (15/65) plate?  Looking at buying one, but need to know if I can upgrade, or should I spend more and buy newer with it already installed?

        • Neil Braybrook says:

          Hi Paul

So long as the car has the newer type of radio we can update to get CarPlay for £180 using diagnostics or £199 by OBD adapter. If its the slight earlier model radio then we would need to install a SmartBox at a cost of £580. The best way to identify is to send me the VIN and I can check for you.

  34. Matthew Orme says:

    Hello,

I have recently been told my (UK) 2018 CLA AMG line will not work with the activator, the vendor checked my VIN number. Could you check also and confirm it doesn’t work? And if you know of any reason why it wouldn’t work, that’ll help my peace of mind, as I thought it worked with all CLAs.

    Thanks,

    Matt

    • Neil Braybrook says:

      Hi Matt

We have had many successes recently with CLA so would be happy to supply a device that will activate CarPlay on your car. If you can give me your chassis number I can check to be 100%. Please send to info@braybrooks.co.uk.

  35. Vahe says:

    Hi Neil,

I have a Mercedes E-220D Coupe Registered September 2018 (68-REG – Newest Model). Do you have anything that can activate Apple Car Play for my car. I have the USB Port with the ‘Tablet Symbol’. I’m worried the answer may be a no at this moment in time, I hope I am wrong though.

    • Neil Braybrook says:

      Hi Vahe

We are desperately seeking a solution for CarPlay in the new E class but as of yet we have not got the answers we are seeking.

  36. Jonathan says:

I have a new a class that you can talk to
I have questioned Mercedes Me connect as to how they can justify charging £267.00 to activate Apple CarPlay. They can’t really give me an answer. I have spoken to the developer & they insist this feature is free if your vehicle supports Apple CarPlay ( the new a class has it integrated) I can’t understand how they can charge this extortionate amount for something the car already has built in. Any comments appreciated !

    • Neil Braybrook says:

      Hi Jonathon

I am being told by a Mercedes Technician, that has just completed the specific training course on MBUX radios as fitted to A class, that CarPlay is not supported on these models. (Shocking as that may be!!)

If you are being offered a solution at £267 then I would say it is worth every penny as there is no other known solution at this time. We have exhausted every avenue to activate CarPlay on new A class and E classes but as of yet have been unable to find any solution. We are of course constantly seeking this product in the hope that we will eventually find a solution. As a price guide we are currently at £249 for C class & GLC.

  37. Matthew says:

    Hello,

I have a 2018 CLA with audio20, I have an SD slot but no sd card (no sat nav). Will this work on my car? As I bought one from another company and it didn’t work, it went into DIAG but then nothing..don’t want to end up getting it again if it doesn’t work..
    Thanks,

    Matt

    • Neil Braybrook says:

      Hi Matt

It is most likely that our system will work but before we sell any of our products we would check first. Please send your chassis number (or reg no) to info@braybrooks.co.uk and we can check out your specific options.

      Regards

      Neil

    • Neil Braybrook says:

      Hi Steve

We have not looked at possibilities for X class yet. If you can email me your chassis number (or reg no) we can look up what equipment Mercedes are using in this model and see what our options are.

      Please email to info@braybrooks.co.uk

      Regards

      Neil

        • Neil Braybrook says:

          Hi Steve

Many thanks. Please do let me know even if CarPlay is already fitted as we would like to know what Mercedes are doing on this model. I’ve looked at what equipment is fitted and can see that it is the same a C class, some of which have CarPlay active and some still don’t.

    Paul

    • Neil Braybrook says:

      Hi Paul

We are still unable to offer an OBD activation device for this car however we may possibly be able to offer a diagnostic update that will activate CarPlay. If it is possible to bring the car to our workshop we are happy to see if we can activate CarPlay at no cost but we are unable to guarantee success at this stage (Hence the offer!)

Please let me know if this is of interest

      Regards

      Neil

    • Neil Braybrook says:

      Hi Steve

It is very likely this will work on your new car. We can only be 100% when we have vehicle details. I believe however that CarPlay is now standard on 2019 C class although Mercedes do have a habit of changing the spec!!

As soon as you can get a chassis number for the car we can check for you.

      Regards

      Neil

    • Neil Braybrook says:

      Hi Tom

We have new activation devices now that should activate CarPlay and Android Auto in your car. You will firstly need to update the Firmware in your radio (MB Dealers can do this – talk to us about how best to arrange this!) You may also need a new USB connection port. This will depend on whether your sockets are purely numbered 1 & 2 or whether they have the USB logo and a Phone symbol. If they are only 1&2 you will need to replace. Once all of this is done an activation device can be used to turn on services. Worst case – total cost £298 (Plus firmware if MB charge!)

      • Tom Hammond says:

        Neil

Thanks. I have the correct labelled USB connection port with the phone/tablet symbol. I have just had the car into Mercedes and they have “done an update to the Audio 20”. Not sure what but I will find out and message you again.

        Tom

        • Neil says:

          Hi Tom

Now that the update is done and the socket is correct then you will need an activation device to finish off the update. These can be ordered here

          Hi Teresa
The manufacturer of your unit is Melco rather than Panasonic so the hardware is not in place for us to be able to activate CarPlay.

Installation of the SmartBox takes 1.5 to 2 hours so we are more than happy for you to wait whilst we install.

Hi I have a 2016 A250 AMG and was wondering if i could use this device to unlock apple CarPlay. Registration is LC16 LME

    Thanks

    • Neil Braybrook says:

Your car is suitable for our device to activate CarPlay.

However, before it can be used the car stereo needs to be updated to run the latest firmware (OS) by Mercedes. If your car is under warranty Mercedes will do this free of charge. Once this is done our device simply plugs in, transfers its information and is then removed.

If your car has recently had any audio related complaints or map updates it is possible that this update has already been carried out. If you wanted to purchase a device to try, if it works straight away – Happy Days!!  If it doesn’t work, then the update will need to be done and then the device re-inserted and then it will work.

Warranty is not affected as the device does not remain in the vehicle. If you want to undo the modification, then re-inserting the device again will turn off CarPlay. Each insertion will toggle between On and Off. The device can be used as many times as you like but is locked specifically to your car upon initial insertion.

Hi Paul. This device will not work on your vehicle unfortunately. We have a product launching very soon that will enable CarPlay on many other cars but it is not as yet tested on SLC. Once over the initial stock order/supply we will start testing other vehicles. Please keep an eye on the website for updates.

I have a facelift A Class from December 2015 and I believe it has Audio 20 as the interface. Would this or any other options be possible to enable CarPlay?

    Cheers

  47. Neil Braybrook says:

We have finally had a successful test of the CarPlay SmartBox into a Mercedes C class with Garmin Sat Nav. The product worked really well with a good clear display operating in exactly the same manner as the factory fitted CarPlay. The one difference is in the Audio. Whilst using CarPlay as your Audio source the Apple Maps navigation will interrupt with it direction messages. If however you are listening to anything else on the car system (e.g. Radio, CD, Memory card etc) then the Audio will not be interrupted by the Apple Maps direction messages.

Pricing is still to be finalised and stock should be available in 2-3 weeks.

        Hi.
If you can send me your Chassis number I can let you know the options. We do have a device that will give Android Auto but it has limitations as to which vehicles.

Please email your chassis number (or reg no) to info@braybrooks.co.uk

        Regards

        Neil

  48. Josh says:

Hi there. Will this work on my A-class AMG premium plus 2016 plate? It has everything apart from car play

    • Neil Braybrook says:

      Hi David

There are several options available depending on the spec of your car. If you can forward me your chassis number (or reg no) to neil@braybrooks.co.uk and I will check it out for you.

      Regards

      Neil Braybrook

  49. Neil Braybrook says:

We are currently looking for cars to test product on. We need a C class or GLC class that we can fit a CarPlay SmartBox to for testing and evaluation. If you would like to have this fitted we can offer this at a reduced price of £299 Inc VAT (RRP £600)with a full refund policy if you are not happy with it. We will only charge if our installation is successful but there is a possibility of compatibility issues which may need further investigation before we can achieve a successful outcome.

Please either comment here or email me directly at: neil@braybrooks.co.uk

    • Neil Braybrook says:

      Hi Robert
This device will unlock the Android Auto function but the cars that it will work on are fairly limited! If you can forward me your reg no or chassis no I can check it out for you.
      Regards

      Neil

would this work on a 2017 slc 250d? its audio 20 with garmin maps on sd card. it has the 2x usb ports but merc says they cant activate android auto as I don’t have a smart phone integration pack. I’m guessing the smart phone integration pack is android auto.

    • Neil Braybrook says:

      Hi Martin
We are currently testing this on another SLC and are awaiting results of a software update that is being carried out by Mercedes. We should have more information next week as the car is booked in for next Monday.

  51. Tony Tack says:

Hello. I’m very interested in upgrading my 2017 C Class with Apple CarPlay. Is the upgrade you spoke about available yet?

    • Neil Braybrook says:

      Hi Tony
Apologies. It has taken a lot longer to adapt to the uk market than we had hoped. We are still actively working on a solution and should have news in a few weeks.

      Hi Marcus

Sorry. This will not work on E class. We have new products coming up so please keep an eye on the website or I can add you to our list to keep you updated with progress.

  52. kuldip bhurji says:

    Hello we have spoken before

Is it possible to add APPLE CAR PLAY in 2015 Mercedes s class ? is it ever going to happen or not

    kuldip

    • Neil Braybrook says:

      Hi Kuldip.

We are testing new product this week that may also be compatible with S class. If it works OK and we import more modules I would be happy to try one in your S class on the understanding that it may not work (in which case we would make no charge). I am fairly confident however that the S class Comand system is similar enough to the C class for which this module is designed.

  53. Kevin chinn says:

Hi there,  i have 3 quick questions on this
    1. Would this work for a new merc GLC with command (as in the premium plus upgrade) and the adaptive cruise pack?
    2. Does it affect the warranty?
    3. Any update on timings?

    Many thanks

    • Neil Braybrook says:

      Hi
We have a device on its way that may work. If you can email me your chassis number (or reg no if in UK) I can check your spec and see if it will work. This is a plug in adapter. We are also sampling an installed black box adapter that will work on any car and will have more news on that in about two weeks.
      Regards
      Neil

      • Kevin chinn says:

Hi,  I haven’t bought the car yet as lack of CarPlay is holding me back!  Suffice to say if I did it would be the current live model eg a 2017 or 2018 glc 43 premium plus (so with command).  Thanks

        • Neil Braybrook says:

          Hi Kevin

Our simple device will not work on a car with Comand, so we currently have no solution.

We are however working on a device that will work but have not completed testing yet. We should hopefully have news in the coming weeks.

If you would like me to inform you when we get more information please let me know.

  54. David says:

Hi will this work on a 2014 B-Class AMG Line? I do have the SD Card Garmin Navigation. I have seen similar products advertised and they say compatible with 2015 cars onwards, or you need the smart phone symbol next to your USB port. Thank you

    • Neil Braybrook says:

      Hi
I’m afraid this won’t work on your car. We are sampling an installed black box device that should work but we will know more in about two weeks.
      Regards
      Neil

  55. Mark McIntyre says:

Will this work on a 65 plate Mercedes B Class? If I purchase and it doesn’t work, can i return the item for a full refund?

    • Neil Braybrook says:

      Hi Mark.

Sadly this device will not work on earlier cars. Sorry. We are looking for alternative ways of offering CarPlay to these cars and will post our findings on the website as soon as we have an affordable solution.

      Regards
      Neil

  56. Stuart Taylor says:

Have purchased a C Class registered March 2017.  Would this device work with this car and when will it be available?  Please can you keep me informed.

    Thanks

    • Neil Braybrook says:

We have a device due in shortly that will work with late 2017 onward GLC and C class. Sadly it will not work with earlier cars. We are also looking at a solution for earlier cars that is a black box system that connects behind the radio but we are still trying to ascertain how integrated it actually is! This option will work out at a fitted price of somewhere around £600. (Installation is quite involved). If this is of interest please let me know and I can keep in touch as we progress

GLC does not have support for CarPlay so this option will not work. We are looking to import a CarPlay SmartBox which will add this feature to your car. The cost of this would be around £600 fitted. 2018 cars will have newer hardware which will then adopt this feature.

The cost of this module is £199. This includes FREE postage and packing in the UK. We usually carry these in stock and can dispatch within 24 hours.

        Hi Neil,

Has there been any progress with the C Class? I have just got a 2017 C Class and have already started to pull my hair out with the garmin satnav. I need to start using Waze again and don’t really want a mount in my car.

            I also have a 2017 C
Class. Could you please also keep me posted when the box is ready?

            Many thanks,
            Tammy

      • Neil Braybrook says:

Hi Nicolas. This device will not work in your car as Premium Plus has full Comand and that is not have the hardware for in-built CarPlay (even on brand new cars!). We do however have a CarPlay SmartBox due into stock w/c 13th August which will offer CarPlay in your car. Details will be listed on our website very shortly.
