One van and a new specialist business.
Neil Braybrook founded Braybrook’s Car Radio as a mobile fitting service. In-car technology was limited, but careful installation and problem-solving quickly created a place for specialist work.

Braybrooks began as a mobile car-audio fitting service. It grew by following the technology—and by learning how to integrate it properly.

The products have changed completely; the work has not. Every era has required the same mix of technical knowledge, careful dismantling, clean integration and respect for the car.

THE BRAYBROOKS STORY
Five chapters, one specialist mindset.
The key moments that shaped the knowledge and standards we bring to your car today.
1987–1988
The first permanent workshop.
A workshop, stores, office and small showroom opened at Dicker Mill in Hertford. In 1988, Alpine Electronics commissioned Braybrooks to build one of its demonstration vehicles.
1990s
Audio, communications and navigation.
The business expanded into increasingly complex sound systems, mobile communications and early satellite navigation. Demonstration cars—including a Mitsubishi Shogun and later a Mercedes E-Class—showed what integrated installation could achieve.
2000s
Mercedes-Benz became the speciality.
Work with Mercedes systems grew from COMAND integration into far more ambitious retrofits. From 2006, the business focused increasingly on Mercedes-Benz, building deeper knowledge with dealers and owners.
2019–today
New technology, the same attention to detail.
CarPlay and Android Auto joined an ever-growing retrofit range. Today, Braybrooks combines more than four decades of experience with current diagnostics, coding and installation techniques from its Hertfordshire workshop.
