We can retrofit an Electrically folding trailer coupling using genuine Mercedes Benz parts. Integral servomotors mean the ball head extends, retracts and locks in place fully automatically – keeping hands clean. This is the Retrofit ex-factory solution (optional extra Code 550). Precision tailored to the vehicle. A 13 pin electrics connection is mounted in the side of the bar itself so is very neat and tidy. A button is installed on the underside of the tailgate to extend/retract the tow-bar
By using genuine Mercedes diagnostic computers we will introduce the relevant menus into the MBUX system to adjust trailer type (bike rack, trailer or caravan) which then adjust routes and system responses accordingly. Reverse camera guidance is also loaded to assist with aligning the towbar to a trailer or caravan.
On smaller engined vehicles it may be a requirement to increase the engine cooling capacity if you wish to tow to the maximum limits. The vehicle is rated to tow up to 2100KG on the smaller engines and 2400kg on the larger engines. Towing above 60% of this weight will ideally require extra cooling. This is a larger fan that installs in place of the existing with upgraded wiring to support the extra power draw. This is generally only required on smaller engined vehicles as the larger engines have uprated cooling fitted as standard. Check with us if you are unsure.
If you are simply using a bike rack or small trailer then extra cooling is NOT required.
Full 13 pin connectivity allows for use with caravans as well as trailers and bike racks etc (Adapters available for 7 pin trailers)
The quoted price includes installation, all parts required and programming with Mercedes Star Diagnostics.
Using genuine Mercedes parts, the entire installation is completed to the highest standard and when finished will be identical to the factory specification.
Genuine Mercedes computer coding will activate all of the associated features in exactly the same manner as factory fitted.
Whilst we are working on your car, you can make use of our customer lounge which includes WiFi, a spacious desk and comfy sofa. We also provide tea, coffee and cold drinks.
Alternatively, we have a courtesy car available if booked in advance (Please note the courtesy car has a manual gearbox).
