More and more Mercedes benz new cars come with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto function. Whilst the high version cars will have this function activated, the lower version will be hidden. We have developed this Mercedes Apple CarPlay OBD Activator which simply plugs into the OBD socket.  This will activate the built in CarPlay function in some new Mercedes cars. It is plug and play and very easy to use.
On some models Mercedes have now developed software to dis-allow the activation of CarPlay software. So please check Compatibility tab for more details and check our Head-unit Version Fact Sheet to see if Mercedes Apple CarPlay OBD Activator will work for you.

The following cars, radios and software levels are compatible:
A Class 176 – 2015 to 2016. NTG5.1 SA Code 522 Audio 20
B Class 246 – 2015 to 2016. NTG5.1 SA Code 522 Audio 20
CLA Class 117 – 2015 to 2016. NTG5.1 SA Code 522 Audio 20
GLA Class 153 – 2015 to 2016. NTG5.1 SA Code 522 Audio 20
Early firmware: no functionality, Later firmware: CarPlay only, Latest 2020 firmware: activation blocked.
A Class 176 – 2016 to 2019. NTG5.1 SA Code 522 Audio 20
B Class 246 – 2016 to 2019. NTG5.1 SA Code 522 Audio 20
CLA Class 117 – 2016 to 2019. NTG5.1 SA Code 522 Audio 20

Mercedes have blocked methods of checking software levels without a diagnostic computer.

This worked perfectly on my 2017 SLC 43 AMG, US model. Of note, my data card showed Audio 20 (code 522), but did not list the smartphone integration package. Though it did have the 2 USB ports in the center console, one of which had a tablet/smartphone icon beside it. After using the OBD activator, I now have both Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, without the need of any additional hardware! I couldn’t be happier.
