***New Product Launch***

We now have stock of a unique new device that will allow owners of all A class, B class, CLA class and GLA class Mercedes to use Apple CarPlay on their existing radio and screen. By simply plugging this device into the OBD socket (located just above the brake pedal) and waiting less than two minutes, Android Auto and Apple CarPlay will be activated.

Apple CarPlay enables the use of many of the iPhone facilities controlled directly from the car. These include:

  • iTunes for Music
  • Spotify for Music
  • Apple Maps for navigation
  • Messages for speech controlled texting (Siri will read and write your texts!)
  • Phone for speech controlled dialling
  • As well as other lesser used features.

Only compatible on cars with Garmin navigation using SD cards (Not compatible with Becker with cartridge in glove box!)

We cannot activate CarPlay with OBD on any C class any more. If you can send me your chassis number I can give you options.

    • Neil Braybrook says:

      Hi Mark
Your car is suitable for our device to activate CarPlay.

However, before it can be used the car stereo may need to be updated to run the latest firmware (OS) by Mercedes. Our device simply plugs in, transfers its information and is then removed.

Warranty is not affected as the device does not remain in the vehicle. If you want to undo the modification, then re-inserting the device again will turn off CarPlay. Each insertion will toggle between On and Off. The device can be used as many times as you like but is locked specifically to your car upon initial insertion.

We would normally suggest to purchase this device and if it doesn’t work then book the car in to Mercedes. Often the software is updated when other work is carried out so it may already be done. Mercedes have blocked access to the menus that tell us what version is running so there is no way to pre-determine the outcome.

If you wish to purchase, please either call the office or complete an order on our website and we will send you a Paypal invoice.

On this year of car, the manufacturer of the radio is Melco and they did not have the required hardware to enable CarPlay. Only in late 2017 they changed supplier to Panasonic which has the relevant abilities to activate CarPlay but that too has now been disabled by Mercedes.

We do however have a solution that will give you CarPlay in your car. Click here to view on our website.

      Hi

We can integrate CarPlay / Android Auto into your car by using a SmartBox. This is installed behind the radio and uses existing screen and controller. Full details can be found here

I hope this helps and look forward to hearing from you soon.

    • Neil Braybrook says:

      Hi Graham

On this year of car we can activate Apple CarPlay but NOT Android Auto, sorry. The hardware in the car is not compatible. The only way to get Android Auto is to use a SmartBox device which is £580 fitted Inc VAT.

    • Neil Braybrook says:

      Hi Matt

There are three types of head unit in the new E class and I’m sorry to say that you have the only one fitted to your car that we hove no solution for yet. The software is not built-in to the unit so it cannot be activated by OBD or diagnostic computer. We are hoping to have a SmartBox solution available soon but our suppliers are still unable to confirm compatibility with this radio.

We are hoping to have a solution In the not too distant future.

    • Neil Braybrook says:

      Hi.

Because this is a US spec vehicle it uses different equipment to European spec vehicles. It is however likely that we can change the settings that can then be activated by your local Mercedes Dealer. The cost from our end is £150 and then you will need to get an on-line diagnostic update carried out for which we can supply very specific instructions.

    • Neil Braybrook says:

      Hi Adrian

Your car is suitable for our device to activate CarPlay.(But not Android Auto on this age of car!)

      Hi Ravi

On a 2019 car things have changed slightly so I would firstly need to take a look at the spec sheet for the car and then probably hook up to our diagnostics to see if we can activate it. Can you firstly send me your chassis number to info@braybrooks.co.uk for me to check please?

      • Neil Braybrook says:

        Hi

The new screen size of C class is now not compatible with our kits.If you have the bigger 12″ screen then we are currently unable to offer a solution. We are constantly trying to resolve this and hope to have a solution in the not too distant future.

    Hi!!
    I’m from Mexico.

    I have a GLC43

    The Vin number is: WDC0J6EB5KF514981

Is it capable to have Car play?

    Kind regards

    • Neil Braybrook says:

      Hi Juan

Cars with Comand are not compatible for our simple OBD CarPlay upgrade. In mid 2018 CarPlay was added as standard on C class with Comand. GLC is just starting to filter through.

    • Neil Braybrook says:

      Hi James

If your car has the widescreen Comand system then we can activate CarPlay or Android Auto with our diagnostic computers. If it has the separate screens fro dash & radio then we should have a solution for this in the next 2-3 weeks. This will be a SmartBox solution similar to our C class option that will cost £480 + £100 installation.

Just wondering if your ODB solution will work for my car. It is a MB GLC 350e X253 delivered 02.2018. From it’s vin number it looks like it has SA codes 520, 154 and 15U installed,

    • Neil Braybrook says:

On this year of car Mercedes have now developed software that totally ‘blocks’ activation of CarPlay using an OBD device.
